My cat has diarrhea. Can I use Well&Good dog anti-diarrhea liquid?

Actual Kao-pectate (which contains only kaolin and pectate) is safe to use. PetCo sells it as NutriVet Antidiarrheal Liquid for cats. On the other hand the brand name “Kaopectate” is not actually kaolin and pectate but is made of the same ingredients as pepto-bismol (bismuth subsalicylate). This is absolutely TOXIC to cats and is not recommended under any circumstance. If you’d like to try something over the counter for diarrhea, and can’t get the NutriVet or aren’t sure, I’d much rather you try out a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora. Of course, if these remedies aren’t working, it’s time to see your vet to rule out parasites, infections, or inflammatory bowel disease. Best of luck to you and Walker!

Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Licorice evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello, and thank you for your question. I don't see a problem with administering a single dose of kaolin and pectin to Luca. In addition, I would offer him a bland, easily digestible diet in small, frequent portions, such as boiled ground beef and plain white rice. For his weight, 2 tbsp every 2-3 hours should work. If his diarrhea worsens or if he starts to have vomiting, reduced appetite or lethargy, he may need to see a vet before your travel tomorrow. I hope this helps, and that Luca feels better soon!

DiaGel can be used in cats, and this may be an off label use of the product. If you have some concerns about, which I understand, don't use it and give your vet a call. Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Miralax and Benefiber are quite different from each other. I would not use Miralax if she is having diarrhea as you no longer need a laxative. Benefiber would be my recommendation to help bulk up the stool since she is experiencing diarrhea now. Glandex is fine to continue long term as it is a good source of fiber. You can also use Vetasyl capsules for cats (protein in capsule form). If using Benefiber, I would use ~1/2 tsp added to the food. You can also use Laxatone to help keep stools soft and help prevent constipation. I hope this helps!

Human medications can be dangerous and even toxic to animals so you should not give this medication to Abby. Understanding the underlying cause of the diarrhea e.g parasites, infection, endocrine disease, etc is essential to treating Abby’s diarrhea. Your veterinarian will be able to diagnose what is going on with Abby and prescribe appropriate treatment. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do for her at home medically. You can however feed Abby a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice to help settle her stomach. If signs persists you will need to take her to your veterinarian.

I would recommend switching to a different food such as a hydrolyzed protein diet and feed this for the next 4 weeks to see if this makes a difference.
