My cat is losing weight and sneezing but seems fine. What's wrong?

Based on what you are describing I would be concerned that something is going on with Cupcake. At her age I would be concerned about 3 diseases in particular: diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and kidney disease. All of these diseases can cause lethargy, anorexia, and weight loss. I would recommend taking Cupcake to the vet to be checked out. Your vet can run some simple lab work to determine if she has any of these diseases. These illnesses can also depress the immune system and lead to additional illnesses like upper respiratory tract infections that would explain the sneezing and watery eyes. Hopefully your vet can determine what is going on so you can start treatment and get Cupcake back to herself. Best of luck.

I'm sorry to hear of your concerns with Jack. Coughing, sneezing and nasal discharge can be seen with upper respiratory infections, foreign material such as grass stuck in the nose or even cancer. Given his weight loss and upper respiratory signs, I would recommend that you have him seen by your veterinarian. They will perform a thorough physical examination and may recommend blood work to get a better idea of what is going on.

I would have Zarry checked out by a vet as soon as possible. There are two conditions that come to mind that can cause a cat to lose weight despite having a good appetite: hyperthyroidism and diabetes. A vet will examine Zarry and discuss his medical history, and will probably recommend bloodwork to look for a diagnosis.

He needs to be seen by a veterinarian ASAP, Being skinny in an old cat can be due to hyperthyroidism, bad teeth and gingivitis, kidney disease, a bad infection and a few other reasons. Your vet will need to do blood work to rule out hyperthyroidism (easily treated) and kidney disease, He probably missed you also, which can lower his immune system and made him ill. Weight loss coupled with a normal or increased appetite can be a sign of diabetes or hyperthyroidism, to name a couple of possibilities. I recommend getting Felix seen by your vet as soon as possible for an exam and labwork to determine the reason for his weight loss and get him started on treatment.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Andrew! Causes of nasal congestion are: upper respiratory infection either viral or bacteria, fungal infections, and cancer. If the congestion has been going on for awhile he should be evaluated and at a minimum started on antibiotics. The weight loss concerns me in an older cat. I recommend full blood work: CBC/Chem/T4 and urine. Common causes of weight loss in older cats are: kidney or liver disease, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), diabetes and cancer. Sudden weight loss is always a very big warning light that should not be taken lightly, it's usually a sign of an internal disease that needs to be investigated, i strongly recommend taking him to the vet in order to get it checked, he will need to have a blood test done and possibly an xray as well in order to attempt to diagnose the reason for these symptoms.
