My cat is vomiting, not eating, and lethargic. Is it an emergency?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 3 months old | 7 lbs

Moe became ill 2 days ago. First he vomited a grayish hairball log, he's a black cat, then he started to vomit liquid only, not eating moving slowly very lethargic..my vet is closed 9/7/20 I'm very worried..

Poor Moe! From what you're describing here, I'm afraid he sounds quite sick. Vomiting, not eating, and acting lethargic are always very concerning symptoms, especially since he's been sick for 2-3 days now and seems to be getting worse. Unfortunately, these are very vague symptoms that could be caused by almost any kind of illness, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine him and run some tests.

I do think that this sounds like a serious, potentially life-threatening problem that shouldn't wait until tomorrow, so I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic today to be seen. If you're not sure where to go, try calling your regular vet's office - their voicemail message should have contact information for your nearest ER or an on-call doctor for emergencies.

It could be a hairball, but it could be something more serious like a GI illness, foreign body, or pancreatitis. I do think it's worth having him seen by a vet now, and I do recommend it. Otherwise I think you can probably wait until tomorrow. Ultimately these symptoms are somewhat vague and can be a sign of a number of problems so you should go with your gut.

Poor Alvin - it sounds like he is not doing well, especially if he is lethargic and moving very little. These signs are very nonspecific and can be caused by a number of things, from an injury to a serious infection. I recommend having him seen by a vet right away. It is likely best to have him seen in an emergency clinic, most towns/cities have at least one that is open 24 hours/day. I hope all is well!

Given that she hasn't eaten for two days and is lethargic and vomiting, I have to recommend that she be seen by a vet as soon as possible. This could indicate a severe disease, or toxin ingestion. Senior cat vomiting, not eating or drinking. Is it an emergency?

As your cat has not been eating for a few days now as well as not drinking, this is an emergency. Cats can get liver disease from not eating for more than 2 days and not drinking will make them dehydrated and feel even worse and less inclined to drink and eat. Vomiting bile can be a sign of chronic or acute pancreatitis. There are some diseases that will have to be ruled out (can be done easily with a blood test), such as kidney disease and hyperthyroidism and dental problems. I think taking her to an emergency clinic is definitely warranted.

Poor SoCo sounds extremely ill, and the symptoms you are describing are a medical emergency. As a senior cat, he could have many things wrong with him including dental problems, diabetes, kidney failure, hyperthyroidism, liver failure, or cancer among others. He needs veterinary care now to diagnose what is causing all his symptoms so he can be treated.
