Cat vomiting & not eating after kidney surgery. When to call vet?

If possible I would contact the veterinarian that did the surgery to discuss any concerns they might have. I recommend monitoring Archibald closely continuing to offer him small amounts of food and water and following the discharge instructions given by your veterinarian. If he begins acting painful, weak, or has any vomiting then he needs to be seen by a veterinarian.

If he was recently at the vet for vomiting, and now is not eating or drinking anything, he should be seen again as this would make me concerned about the possibility of a foreign body, or pancreatitis, which would require additional therapy. If your vet didn't do x-rays or bloodwork at the previous appointment it's time to make sure there's nothing more serious going on. However, since your vet just saw Iron I would start by giving them a call with an update, in case they have other input based on their exam findings. Hope this helps and he feels better soon!

Considedring your cat is vomiting and has not eaten in 4 days, there is a large risk that he is developing liver disease. This is now an emergency. Please take Prince to a Pet ER right away. This is life threatening.

That's pretty dramatic weight loss which indicates something serious is going on. The "goo" from his mouth could indicate a tooth infection (perhaps he's not eating because his mouth is so painful), or he could be excessively drooling from nausea, which could indicate a systemic disease such as diabetes or kidney disease. Ashton needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Your vet will be able to perform a good oral exam to see if the problem is coming from his mouth, and if no obvious issue is seen, they will need to run bloodwork to check his organ function. It's very important to bring him in as soon as possible, as cats who aren't eating are at risk of other problems, such as hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) which can make him sicker. Poor Ashton, unfortunately there is very little you can do at home aside from keeping him comfortable. What worries me is that he sounds like he is in a lot of pain, and I'm concerned that he may be dehydrated. He could have a bad infection, or there could be an issue with the stomach, and gastric contents are being refluxed. To be honest if it has been a couple of days, he could be very poorly at this stage, if at all possible I would take him to the emergency vet now. At the very least they could give him some painkillers. If he is dehydrated or has something serious going on, time is of the essence regarding stabilisation. There is nothing you could give him at home as most human medication is unsafe for cats.

This is very concerning and very abnormal. Vomiting in cats can be caused by primary issues with the gastrointestinal tract, dysfunction of the organs, infection, intolerance to a diet, etc. Either way, this is very concerning and KitKat should be seen by a veterinarian ASAP for examination and potential diagnostics.

If a veterinary consultation is not an option,as a first line treatment, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Gastrointestinal inflammation/infection and pancreatitis are on top of the list of differential diagnosis in Gandalph's case.
