My cat is vomiting, lethargic, and breathing strangely. What's wrong?

Vomiting and inappetence are concerning symptoms as they could occur with things like a gastrointestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, among many other possibilities. The fact that he is also breathing fast is also concerning. I recommend that you have Pedrito evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hoping for a speedy recovery!

The sneezing could indicate a respiratory infection. There are lots of health reasons for her symptoms and Lilly really should see her veterinarian as soon as possible to have her evaluated and treated. Your veterinarian will do an exam and may recommend additional testing such as blood work or x-rays to pin down a cause so Lilly can get the treatment she needs and start to feel better.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pumpkin. I recommend that you seek emergency veterinary care for her today. If she did eat a piece of string, this can be very serious. It generally requires emergency surgery to remove. A foreign body ingestion does not typically cause sneezing though. She needs a thorough examination and possibly x-rays of her belly. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Elvis! I wonder if Elvis is actually coughing. When cats are coughing they sound like they are going to bring up a hairball or vomit but don't or white foam comes up. Coughing in cats commonly indicates asthma. Check his breathing when he is at rest or asleep ideally. If he is breathing with belly effort or his respiratory rate is greater than 40/min he should go to a Vet immediately. I am worried about Elvis, if he is truly trying to vomit possible causes are: foreign body obstruction (requiring surgery to remove), pancreatitis, metabolic condition like kidney failure, viral or bacterial infections, intestinal disease (IBD or cancer). Since he is not eating and is lethargic I recommend taking Elivis to the vet for an exam, blood work and possibly X-rays. If you can video tape the attempting to vomit episodes it may be helpful for your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish Elvis a speedy recovery!

Without seeing Nancy in person, I can't say for certain what is wrong with her, but she could be nauseous, sick, or in pain causing her symptoms. Breathing in a different manner indicates illness as well as pain. I'd take her into a vet now to get checked out. Best of luck.

It's possible Snickers may be dealing with some problematic hairballs, however if the vomiting has been going on this long it is best to seek veterinary care for a complete exam to make sure there isn't another underlying cause. You can attempt to groom Snickers more at home by brushing daily and offering hairball paste (found in most pet stores), however if the vomiting continues, vet care is needed. It is hard to know what exactly is going on however he is displaying some signs of potentially being sick such as labored breathing, lethargy and vomiting. I highly recommend that you have Harley evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to perform a physical examination and start there depending on what they think could be wrong. For example, if his lung sounds appear abnormal, they may proceed with chest X-rays.
