My cat is unresponsive and not moving. What to do if she's dying?

I'm very sorry to hear about your kitty. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about something like this at home. If taking her to the vet is not an option, then please contact your local animal control officer and see if they can help you have her cared for, or humanely euthanized.

I am so sorry for your heartache, I know how difficult this time is. You have a couple of options to consider. 1) Let her pass at home. Make sure she's got a warm comfortable bed, allow her to be propped into a whatever position seems most comfortable. If she's having any difficulty breathing, it may help to prop her so that she's sort of lying on her chest, (so the breastbone is on the surface)--this allows both of her lungs to expand most comfortably. There is no medication that I can advise you to give her, but just being with her is the best thing you can do to make her comfortable. You can keep things she really likes (a cat toy she used to love, etc) and familiar scents (one of your worn t-shirts,etc) in the bed with her. Don't try to force her to eat or drink. 2) Call an emergency clinic. They likely have 24/7 full services, including euthanasia. Additionally, they may be able to refer you to "on-call" in home euthanasia services in your area. More and more of these at home services are available 24 hrs in metropolitan areas. Costs will vary, but will be more expensive than taking her in to your family veterinarian, due to the 24/7 service. You and your kitty are in my thoughts. Hi and thanks for posting. If Charlie is non responsive, he needs to be taken to a emergency vet clinic ASAP! He will need emergency care right away. If he is not breathing (don't see chest moving up and down), he may have passed. I am so very sorry. Please take Charlie to a clinic asap.

It sounds like the poor chap is going to pass away so according to the duty of care stated in the animal welfare act you will have to prevent further suffering and take him to your closest veterinary surgery that it’s open. I would not wait any longer. Hope this helps giving you the strength fir making that trip to the vet !

I'm so sorry Kitty is quite ill! It sounds like you have done all the right things by having her seen by the vet, but if she is in liver failure, that is extremely serious and is typically fatal. You can have her seen by another vet, who may be able to help you with her, and I would recommend having Kitty seen right away if you decide to do that. It may make you, and her, feel better to have her under the care of a vet in a hospital.

It doesn't necessarily mean that she will die, but can indicate that she has a potentially serious illness. Eleven is quite old for a cat, but I would not expect her to be old enough to be at the end of her life. The best way to see if anything serious is going on is to have a veterinarian evaluate her. Given her age they may want to do some blood testing to ensure that her organs are functioning well. After this, the vet will be able to give you a much better answer about her current condition and what can be done to make her feel better. I hope that helps and Meika gets better soon.

I'm so sorry Tilly is so sick, and you are doing absolutely the right thing by taking her into the vet. I really hoping that she doesn't need to be put down, but her symptoms are concerning. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain what is wrong with her or what will happen at the appointment. To make her comfortable, I would bring a favorite blanket or toy so she is comforted by the smell. Unfortunately, in a senior cat, there is always a possibility that it may be time to say goodbye, but maybe the vet can give you some medicine to stimulate Tilly to eat and treat her eyes so you can have more time with her before having to let her go.
