My cat twitches, sensitive after bandage removal. Is he in pain?

I'd be concerned he could be injured, and he could have internal injuries causing his pain. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Oh ouch! That looks really painful! I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Topical antibiotics may be needed as well as pain medication. Unfortunately there is nothing safe for pain medication over the counter for cats. I agree that the cone is important to keep him from making it worse in the meantime. We definitely recognize phantom limb pain in animals, just like they do in the human medical field. Especially since there is some fur missing at the stump, and as Sunny is growling, I suspect that is that is going on. Please take her to your vet for some appropriate pain relievers. Also acupuncture may help with this condition, so ask your vet for the names of some veterinary acupuncturists in your area.

I suspect that Mishkey got attacked by another cat. Keep an eye on this area, if it isn't looking better in a few days, he should probably be rechecked by the vet. Sometimes that irritated skin will start to die and turn black, in which case it often needs to be removed surgically. Minimizing activity and giving pain medications as prescribed by the vet is the best you can do for him at this time. Make sure his food and water and litter pans are easily accessible.

I am sorry to hear that Bandit isn’t feeling well. Does he go outside? If so then a brewing abscess may be the culprit or perhaps he was clipped by a car or rolled by a dog or other predator. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. If he is that painful then your veterinarian may choose to give some pain medications prior to examining him, but they will make that determination once you are there. He may also need an x-ray.
