My cat has lumps on her tummy. Could it be eosinophilic plaque?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding XiaoMi. It appears that she has a skin infection on her abdomen. Mammary tumors grow out of the mammary gland under the skin. The exception is if the tumor becomes large enough, the overlying skin can ulcerate and rupture. This does not appear to be the case though from the attached pictures. I do think that she should see her veterinarian. She will likely need antibiotics and a medication to control any itching. She will likely have to wear an E-collar to prevent self trauma as well. If the cause of the infection (if that is what it is) can be determined, this can help to prevent future recurrences. Allergies are common ok the abdomen. I hope this information helps!

Based on its location, this could also be a mammary gland tumor which in most cases are malignant. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. Hi, I think one of the first conditions to rule out here would be eosinophilic granuloma complex (EGC) which refers to a group of inflammatory skin problems in cats. The skin lesion on the picture may be an eosinophilic plaque. Common sites are the hind legs and the stomach. The lesions can be large and may be itchy, and the cat may frequently tries to licks and even bites at the affected site which can make it worse. Most cases of ECG are due to allergies ( fleas /food/ atopy=environmental). Flea control is very important in the treatment. Most cases respond well to medical treatment with corticosteroids (prednisolone commonly) and antibiotic if infected. She will need to be checked by a vet to confirm and to be treated. It’s difficult to say for certain what these are without being able to examine Jynxx in person. My first guess would be that these are eosinophilic granulomas - a skin condition that can be related to allergies. A skin infection or a wound would also be possible. I’d recommend making an appointment with your vet so they can examine this area.

It is difficult to determine without actually seeing the lumps. Have your vet take a look at her. Your vet can do a needle aspirate, if needed, to diagnose and then your vet can recommend a treatment plan. She might need an antibiotic or they might need to be removed.

The pictures are a little difficult to see, but that red area on the skin is not normal. She may have created that herself from licking, but it could also be a skin infection. Either way, she likely needs medication. An appointment with your veterinarian would be a good idea. Sometimes fall brings a lot of environmental allergens. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon.
