How many cats for my terrace? What breeds mix with Persians outdoors?

I would not recommend raising 10 cats in one household. Here are a few reasons why: -not all cats will automatically get along together. Is your house big enough to completely separate cats that don't get along? -you will need at least 10 litter boxes. Do you have enough separate spaces so each cat can have privacy when using the box? Do you have time to scoop all 10 boxes 1-2 times per day? -you will need to have several different feeding areas for the cats. I prefer that each cat eat out of its own bowl so that you will know if one cat is ill and not eating as much as normal. -spaying and neutering 10 cats to avoid litters of unwanted kittens can get very expensive. Additional expenses include annual veterinary exams, necessary vaccinations and virus testing, veterinary care for emergencies, veterinary care for routine illness, veterinary care for senior cats or cats with long-term health issues -Some cities will have restrictions on the number of animals living in 1 house. You may have to register as a cattery and even pass inspections to be able to have 10 cats. There are lots of different cat breeds, and getting a purebred cat rather than a Domestic Longhair or Domestic Shorthair (common cat breeds) can be extremely expensive.

Bengals are not laid back cats, like Persians can be, and can be a handful, so that may not be the best choice. Any of the remaining three breeds you mentioned would be fine to raise with a Persian :-)

Any breed of cat can breed together. If you do not wish to have kittens I would recommend getting one or both cats fixed to prevent this. Many people will use a styrofoam cooler with a hole cut out to hold in the heat. Provide fresh food and water. Make the food a high quality such as Royal Canin, Purina ProPlan or Iams. Certainly you can have this cat vaccinated, treated for parasites and even spay/neutered. Outdoor cats can produce many kittens, they can also act as a source of fleas and intestinal worms, cats who are not fixed can also be more prone to fighting and getting injured. The main factors to think about are risk of injury (by cars and by other cats), risk of picking up disease (from other cats, intestinal parasites), and risk to wildlife (more of a concern if your cats like to catch songbirds) VS risk of increased stress due to being indoor only and risk of aggression between the two cats because they are stressed inside. From a behavioral perspective, being outside is much better. There is way more stimulation and it's a natural life for them. From a health perceptive, being inside is probably better, but we don't fully know the effects of the stress of being kept indoors. There are definitely ways to mitigate the risks of going outside, namely vaccination for Feline Leukemia and use of flea/tick preventatives, along with yearly fecal to check for intestinal worms. FIP, which is basically feline AIDS is not one that we vaccinate for and is transferred during cats fights, so they'd be open to that if outside. I hope that helps you think through your options! Congrats on your new kitties! Given that you have a variety of cats, I would get a high quality cat food as opposed to brands for specific breeds. While I do feel that foods for breeds are worthwhile, it's hard to make sure each cat eats their brand specific food when you have a variety of cats. I feel the food for brands are worthwhile because I do find they tailor to the breed's specific need. Royal Canin Persian, for example, have a specially shaped kibble that makes it easier for Persian cats to pick up with their mouth. Persian cats can have a different shaped mouth due to the shortened nasal passages, and I have found my own Persian had trouble picking up cat food. The Royal Canin Persian was very easy for my cat to eat, and I feed him that. In terms of brands, I recommend Royal Canin kitten food. Other good brands include Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams.
