Why is my cat's bleeding tail wound not healing after 2 weeks?

Tails can be very difficult to keep wrapped or bandaged. Consider an e-collar (cone) to prevent licking and to allow healing. That wound in the image should be addressed by your veterinarian. Ideally, the hair around it should be clipped to prevent contamination. The wound itself should be gently cleaned. Sutures may be indicated if it is a fresh wound or deep wound. Antibiotics and pain management may also be indicated.

I would strongly recommend taking her to your vet as she will need to have an antibiotic injection to prevent an infection from surely happening. the are should be clipped and clean as much as possible but a course of antibiotics is crucial.

You can try applying Neosporin and giving it time. Unfortunately, tip of the tail injuries like this can be very difficult to heal since there is not much tissue or a very good blood supply to the very tip of a cat's tail. Sometimes they are licking it to clean even when you don't see, which will significantly slow healing. If it doesn't appear to be healing in a few days, then your kitty should get checked out by a vet. Poor girl. It really likely just needs some antibiotics to fully heal here. If a cut gets infected, then it will delay the healing process. I would suggest cleaning it with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water for now and then get this seen by your vet b/c she likely just needs antibiotics and potentially even closure of the cut to help it heal all the way. She also is likely messing with it b/c it is itchy due to infection. You can place an e-collar on her for now to keep her from getting to the wound. You can find e-collars at your local petstore. Poor Marley! If he only received an anti-inflammatory injection, he may need an antibiotic. However, if he did receive an antibiotic, it may be that he needs to have the area cleaned and flushed to get the debris out. Sometimes cats have to be sedated to have this done. It helps to remove the infection and allow the area to heal faster. I would recommend taking Marley in to your vet to have the area rechecked to make sure nothing else needs to be done. Also, if he doesn't have an e-collar, I would recommend one, as often cats can groom these infected areas and delay their healing. I hope he is back on track and feeling good soon!
