My cat's jaw is swollen and drooling. Is it a tumor or infection?

It certain is possible that Kita had a very severe infection in her mouth and the antibiotics helped, and I'm glad that she seems better than she has in a long time. Without having a biopsy, a malignant tumor can't be ruled out completely, but I would keep an eye on her mouth for now. If the redness doesn't go away, or if her cheek becomes swollen again and she develops ulcers, then I would take her back into the vet for a biopsy.

I think this question may be a repetition of the previous one with the link to the picture. .....The antibiotic probably cleared the mouth up from excess of bacteria and secondary infection, but that lesion may represent a cancer. A biopsy or fine needle aspiration of the lesion must be obtained to confirm or rule out this strong clinical suspicion and eventually define its malignancy. Another check up is needed.

There may still be inflammation in his mouth causing the drooling. I'd give it a few more days to see if the drooling improves. If not please take him in for a recheck to make sure the gingivitis has improved. He may need additional antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medication. This is likely to be an abscess that bursts open. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths twice daily. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any). If not resolving in 4 days a check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. I hate to hear that Leo is uncomfortable. I would think this is likely an infection, either of the skin or the tooth itself. Less likely would be a cancer. I would recommend to take him in to see the veterinarian who may be able to tell the difference based on a physical exam and can provide appropriate medication and pain relief. In a 10 year old cat, it's certainly possible that your cat has a tumor. Given that he has been having continuing problems with this swelling, I recommend having further testing done such a blood tests, urinalysis, and x-rays of his head. This will help vet see if there is a tumor in his nasal cavity, and then the vet can discuss treatment options.
