My cat's surgery incision is red and scabbing. Is it normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5 years old | 10 lbs

My cat had emergency surgery 4 days ago and I wanted to make sure her incision is healing up okay? I'm concerned about the redness and the presence of yellow like scabbing close up. My mom disagrees and says there's nothing wrong and it looks fine but I wanted an expert opinion. Thank you for your time.

Thank you for providing a picture of Zaharah's incision. It looks like it's healing well to me, it's not very red and some scabbing is normal. I hope she continues to recover well from her emergency surgery!
