Why is my cat squinting with a pink, open spot in his inner eye?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 11 lbs

Onyx has something that showed up in the inner corner of his left eye. It is open and pink. Not sure what this is from, he always had discolored skin patches by his eyes but this is definitely something else. He is squinting as well.

Its a bit hard to tell from the photos. It may be a wound that has caused the problem, or its possible he was rubbing his eye if his eye was uncomfortable already, and then he scratched it traumatized the skin there on the inner part of the eye.
Put an Ecollar (cone of shame) on him so that he can't scratch at it or rub the eye on the ground, worsening the problem, and get him in to see the vet in the next couple of days.
