It maybe a urinary infection. If this goes untreated it can lead to an obstruction and acute kidney failure. I would have your vet make sure there is no medical reason such as that causing it. If all is normal it is behavioral. Just because nothing new has happened inside, does not mean something new is not happening outside. There may a new cat or other animal that is stressing yours or scaring yours and you will have to look into identifying that and removing it

If he's living with other cats who do not like him, that will stress him out. Most urinary tract "infections" in non-geriatric cats are not caused by bacteria (antibiotics kill bacteria) but inflammation caused by stress. This is called feline idiopathic cystitis. Male cats also seldom have a bacterial cystitis as the urethra is much longer than a female's urethra and therefore bacteria would have to travel much farther to get into the bladder. It could be he has feline idiopathic cystitis, so I would take him into the vet. If he does have it, the vet can prescribe prednisone. It takes the inflammation which in turn takes the pain, and it is also a diuretic which helps flush the bladder. I hope this helps!

Causes of urination outside the box can be urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, stones in the urinary tract, trauma to the area, or difficulty getting into the litterbox due to pain, or other reasons. It is best to rule out medical causes first (bladder stones, crystals in the urine, urinary tract infection) before assuming it is behavioral. I would confine the cats in a room for 1-2 weeks where they can not see the outdoor cats. Use a Feliway diffuser in the room and set one up where they were marking. Get blinds or keep the blinds down so they can not see the cats. You can try to talk to your neighbor but I doubt they will keep them inside. Cleaned the soiled areas with an enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle and Anti-Ichy Poo. Then let the cats back out. If they continue to mark then I would ask your Vet for Prozac. Well, the good news is that Sebastian isn't in heat since he isn't a female. Sprinting (but I think you mean spraying) is a common problem in intact male cats, but it can also occur in neutered male cats, especially if there is an in-heat female in the neighborhood (and this is the time of year they start going into heat).
