Why is my cat suddenly spinning, agitated, and jumpy after moving?

Hello. While I do not know if there is anything wrong with your cat, it is refreshing to get a request about a healthy one. Georgie is still a very young cat, & perhaps she is sensing something in her environment that just turns her on. Plenty of plants are blooming, so she may be getting a whiff of something like catmint ( similar to catnip ) or she is aware of other cats in the vicinity. It is hard to tell. But there are no diseases or conditions that would be worrisome in a cat this young. It sounds like something is making J-Cat nervous. I think I’m understanding that she has housemates but typically she gets along with them. It could be something outside that she heard or something she saw inside that is making her anxious. Even though she doesn’t seem obviously painful if this behavior continues I’d recommend seeing your veterinarian to rule out pain as a cause.

Poor Poppy! I would make sure she doesn't have any fleas. Fleas can sometimes cause cats to have bizarre behavior. I would also be concerned about miniature seizures or back/neck pain. Since this is happening frequently I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet will be able to do a thorough exam to help determine the cause. They may want to start her on a little anti-anxiety medicine to see if this helps decrease the episodes. You could try Benadryl twice a day to see if this makes a difference. I hope this helps. Looking for a pattern such as a noise that startles him, certain time of day it happens, or if you were doing an activity with him prior may help you figure out the cause behind his behavior. It is possible that he may have had a strange dream, or something is waking him quickly and startling him. Sudden behavioral changes can also indicate issues such as pain or underlying illness, so if the behavior continues or the cause isn't found, scheduling a vet checkup to look for any health issues is a good idea.

If Mici was a feral or stray cat prior to you taking her in, it may be that she is not comfortable in the home still. If the behavior change was more recent, illness and pain can sometimes cause strange behaviors to appear. If you haven't taken her to the vet recently, an exam is a good first step to make sure there is not an illness or other issue causing her problems. If she checks out healthy, then looking for causes of stress may help. New people, places, pets, etc can all cause stress and may cause your cat to change her behavior. Pheromone diffusers can help reduce stress, while making sure Mici has her own access to food, water, litter and places to hide/rest can also help. If the strange behavior continues even after trying this, then speaking with a veterinary behaviorist or trainer in your area may help.

She may just be doing that to get her energy out. Not all cats like to go outside. I would recommend if you are concerned having your veterinarian take another look at her, but without any other symptoms, this does not seem abnormal. I think you are right to think that something must have spooked her near that door. Or, something is still spooking her. One simple way you can attempt to find the problem is by getting on the cat's level and looking at the area that she seems skittish of. This means you'll have to get on the ground and spend some time looking around. Look for something new in the area, or anything that may be scary to a cat as you look outdoors. It's not always obvious...even a simple move to furniture may be spooky. I hope that helps.
