My cat got soap in eye. Why is her eye sensitive and won't open?

Just rinse out the eye with A LOT of tap water. The eye is going to be irritated, that would be expected. You can go to a pharmacy and buy artificial tears ointment to apply to the eye twice a day until it looks better.

Poor Snoopy. This can really irritate a cat's eye, and it's clearly bothering him since he is keeping it closed. Rinse his eye with cool water, and take him into a vet asap to have it treated. Best of luck.

Clean the eyes with a moist cotton 3 times a day (lukewarm water), if it's still bothering him tomorrow take him to the vet to get special drops.

It's very likely some shampoo got into her eye, try to gently rinse the eye with running water then try to leave it for a few hours to calm down. if within 4-6 hours you do not see any improvement in the eye condition you should then take her to your vet in order to get it checked and treated, she might need eye drops to reduce the irritation.

Aww poor guy! It will likely resolve on its own over the next 24 hours. Rinse his eye thoroughly with tap water to make sure residual soap is gone. If it’s not resolved in 24 hours or if it starts to seem like it’s bothering him, take him to your vet. It’s possible there is enough irritation to cause an ulcer on his cornea. (Though not likely.) Detergents like Palmolive can cause irritation to the eye or could even cause a chemical burn to the surface of the cornea. I definitely think you should see your veterinarian later in the day - they might put a drop of stain in her eye and may prescribe eye drops. While it would be ideal to see your veterinarian right away I doubt there will be any serious complications from waiting a few hours. You could try flushing her eye with saline solution again and you should put an e-collar on her if she begins rubbing her eye.

Since she does not want to hold it open, it may be an abrasions on the cornea from a previous foreign body such as a hair or a small scratch that is not big or deep. It can be from allergies or a mild respiratory infection that is early and just starting. You can flush the eye with saline eye drops and apply a warm compress if she will let you. If this does not get better in 24 hours or you notice further respiratory signs then I would get her checked by a vet as soon as possible
