My cat is sick: sneezing, gassy, tired, and not eating. What's wrong?

Poro Mau Mau! It could be that he is suffering from a respiratory infection causing his runny nose and bleary eyes, but it could also be allergies. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. But the runny nose could be the cause of his decrease in appetite. When cats can't smell their food, they won't eat. I recommend gently warming really smelly wet food such as sardine or fish based to tempt him to eat. You can also try using a humidifier or bringing him into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections. Without knowing the cause of his systems, I do not recommend giving him any supplements as they may be the improper treatment for him. Have him seen by a vet first thing Monday. I hope this helps!

It sounds like Tiger may have an upper respiratory infection, However other more concerning problems such as pneumonia or feline asthma are also possibilities. I would encourage you to take him into a bathroom and run the shower to humidify him. Warm up the food to try to encourage his appetite. If he isn’t interested in food then try low sodium chicken broth to encourage fluid intake. You also may want to to contact a house call veterinarian to come to you. Poor Jupiter! It sounds like the poor guys is pretty sick. Jupiter is likely dealing with an upper respiratory tract infection. Cats can get allergies but a URI is much more common. Many times they clear the infection but sometimes they need to be examined and treated by the veterinarian. If your kitty is not eating or drinking well, seems lethargic, squints the eyes, has discharge from nose or eyes, has trouble breathing or has a cough beyond 5 days , you pet should be examined by the veterinarian. The diarrhea could be caused by many things including worms, coccidia and bacterial infection (in addition to other causes). If the diarrhea has continued beyond 24 hours, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. With continued diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check him for parasites and bacterial over growth. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. Hello. Your kitty may be suffering from some type of food allergy. You can switch her to a sensitive stomach type of cat food ( Hill's Science Diet has a good one ), or you can talk to your vet about a Prescription Diet. I would also start using a good probiotic like Forti-Flora. You feed I little packet once a day for a month & see if things improve. Of course, if she is not feeling well, you must consider having her seen by your veterinarian to make sure there is not something seriously wrong with her digestive tract. He may have an upper respiratory infection, which is quite common in cats. It is hard to say for sure without examining him myself. You can try using a humidifier to break up any mucous. As an alternative you can place him in the bathroom with the shower running for 5-10 minutes 2 x daily. However he ultimately will likely need antibiotics to clear up any bacterial infection that may be present. I would also recommend getting him on antiviral medication (I.e. lysine powder or gel from your local pet store or vet clinic) to treat for a suspected underlying viral infection. This does appear to be a repeat question. My top suspicion here is a viral infection such as FIP. Other possibilities are heart disease, a fungal infection, lower airway disease or upper airway disease. I would take Whisker in to the vet right away for testing. Best case scenario is that this a bacterial infection that will respond to antibiotics. Best of luck at the vet.
