Why does my cat sneeze when she bumps her nose but acts normal?

Poor Bean! If this has been ongoing for a few days, or the bump is bothersome or rapidly changing in size, it's time to see your vet. Runny eyes and sneezing can be a number of things, ranging from allergies, to upper respiratory infections, to irritation of the eye. If there is also a bump present, a blockage of the tear ducts or nose, or even an allergic swelling or minor infection could be the cause. It is best to have Bean seen by your vet to both determine what may be going on, and to help treat any symptoms. In the meantime, keeping his eyes clean and clear with a warm washcloth, keeping the bump clean and dry, and making sure he is still eating and drinking can help keep him comfortable.

Poor Sneakers! If she is having persistent sneezing and nasal discharge even after treatment with antibiotics, and you are also seeing a bump of some kind inside her nostril, I would be concerned that she may have a nasal tumor or foreign body of some kind in her nose. If your veterinarian does not have any suggestions for further work-up at this point, I would recommend asking for referral to a specialist for rhinoscopy (looking at the inside of the nasal cavity with a small camera), as well as other testing if needed such as a bacterial or fungal culture, biopsy of the lump, etc. to try and get a diagnosis.

It could be just mild nasal irritation. It coukd also be due to environmental factors like dust. Rarely we can see certain slow rising disease of cats such as nasal tumors. However we usually see discharge like mucus or blood. If you ever see a discharge, your cats attitude changes or the sneezing increases in its frequency I would consider having your veterinarian do an exam.

Upper respiratory infections, allergies, and minor issues with the throat or lungs can sometimes cause congestion or coughing/snoring sounds, however minor cases may resolve on their own with little symptoms. If your cat is still eating and drinking and acting normally, it may just be best to keep an eye on her and watch for any changes. If you do see symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, loss of appetite, fever, difficulty breathing or discharge from the eyes and nose, then scheduling a veterinary appointment for further care is best. If she stays normal, then bringing it up at your next vet checkup if still concerned is best so that your vet can make sure to examine those areas more thoroughly.

I'm glad to hear that Kiara is still eating and drinking well despite her sneezing. Cats can sneeze from time to time as a normal response to clear irritants out of the nasal passages, just as we do. More persistent sneezing can be caused by upper respiratory infections, allergic causes, or nasal polyps, among others. As long as Kiara continues to eat, drink, and act normally in the absence of any nasal discharge, it is ok to continue monitoring her at home. At 2.5 months old, I imagine that she is still going to her vet frequently for booster vaccines, so it is worth mentioning the sneezing at her next appointment. However, if she develops any nasal discharge or changes in her appetite or energy level, she should go to the vet more urgently. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

This may be just an upper respiratory infection which can be viral and last a good two weeks. If B isn't eating or isn't acting right then I would recommend going back to the veterinarian. It could be normal for her since often times when they groom they are getting allergens off their fur. If she does not have discharge from her nose and she is only doing it when grooming, I would just monitor it. However, if you are noticing discharge, or it becomes more frequent, I would take Love Bug to see her veterinarian as it could be allergies or and upper respiratory infection. Hope this helps!
