Why does my cat sleep on my chest and bite when I stop petting?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 30 lbs

I'm just curious. Why does my cat like to sleep on my chest? She usually gets mad when I try to move her because I get uncomfortable after a while. Sometimes she bites me when I stop petting her. Does it mean anything or is that just the way she is?

Sapphire probably likes to sleep on your chest because she is enjoying the warmth of your body and wants to be close to you. She gets mad because she's happy and comfortable, and doesn't want to be moved. She is likely biting you when you stop petting her to let you know she wants you to continue petting her. When cats find a comfy place to sleep, they don't like to move until they are ready to move, they can be very stubborn in that way! It's fine that you move her when you are uncomfortable, she will deal with it. I hope this helps!
