Why is my cat scooting, vomiting brown liquid, and acting strange?

Pet's info: Cat | Egyptian Mau | Female | spayed | 2 years and 6 months old

We noticed Twinkle scooting her bum on the floor today and now (at 4am) I woke to her vomitting. I found three brown liquid pools on the hardwood floor. She hid from me at first then came out as I was cleaning. She was timid and then became more curious. Didn’t really want me petting or picking her up - which she normally loves. Otherwise seems to be acting normally. She’s an indoors only cat - 3 years old. Any ideas please?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Twinkle. Obviously, it can be hard to tell from a picture, but the dark piles look like diarrhea. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian today as that is a lot of fluid to lose if she is vomiting as well. I worry that she will become dehydrated. Based on her exam findings, testing maybe recommended such as fecal tests and/or blood work. Following these results, treatment can be started. For example, fluids may be given under her her skin to rehydrate her. Anti-nausea medication will help to make her feel better as well. I hope this information helps!

I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at Sha so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would start by having her blood tested and have abdominal x-rays taken. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction!

Vomiting can be caused by many conditions primarily gastrointestinal in nature such gastroenteritis and gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. Treatment would be based on findings. Good luck and have a great day!

Wednesday could be having many different issues that could range from a virus to pancreatitis. I would try to feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice. Make sure she is drinking water and observe her for any further vomiting/diarrhea or lethargy. My 19-year-old cat is vomiting, dehydrated, no vet available now?

It sounds as Tweety is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

My cat has watery diarrhea and is throwing up. When to see a vet?

Oh no, poor Toffee! She sounds quite sick at the moment, and her vomiting and diarrhea could be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten or toxic, a foreign body, or pancreatitis. I see that she isn't spayed, and her symptoms could also be caused a pyometra, which is a life threatening infection of the uterus. When a cat is having both diarrhea and vomiting, it's time to see a vet immediately to prevent her from getting severely dehydrated and sicker. She does need veterinary attention now, please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

Why is my cat having watery yellow diarrhea, vomiting, and pain?

I would recommend that Pussy be checked out by a vet as soon as possible. Her symptoms could be caused by intestinal parasites (worms, coccidia, giardia), bacterial or viral infection (panleukopenia), IBD, intestinal lymphoma, food allergies, among a few others. From the picture, I am also concerned that she may have a prolapsed rectum. This can occur with straining during diarrhea. Sometimes this prolapse will require surgery to put it back in place and allow it the chance to heal. A vet may recommend intestinal parasite screening or viral testing to determine the cause of her illness and prescribe appropriate treatment. Unfortunately, without physically examining Pussy, it is illegal for us to make any specific medication recommendations.

Why is my senior cat vomiting brown liquid, hiding, and not eating?

Missy is definitely feeling bad, which is why she is hiding. The brown vomit is somewhat concerning and indicates that she has some sort of irritation to her stomach. This can indicate an infection, blockage or toxin reaction within the stomach and/or intestines. It could also be secondary to another disease condition affecting the kidneys, liver or gall bladder. Sometimes these things can be temporary, but I wouldn't wait longer than a day to see if Missy gets better on her own. It would be best for a veterinarian to check her out, so they can determine the cause, and/or at-least give her something to feel better. I hope that helps and Missy gets better soon.

My cat is scooting, throwing up, and won't eat. Is it worms?

It sounds like Minerva isn’t feeling well. The fact that she is not enjoying her favorite treats and food, as well as vomiting, is an indication that her stomach is upset. Sometimes parasites are the cause. Scooting her bottom on the floor can indicate parasites as can the upset stomach. Not all worms are visible to the naked eye and not all worms pass out in the stool. Stomach upset can also be due to many other causes including inflammatory bowel disease and bacterial overgrowth. Scooting her bottom on the floor could also be related to anal gland problems, or if she had diarrhea and could feel some of the feces still stuck to her rectum. If the signs have been going on for over 48 hours, I would recommend to have her seen by the veterinarian. Try to bring in a fresh sample of the stool in case the doctor wants to test for worms.
