Why is my cat so scared and jumpy after an attack? How can I help?

It sounds like Jagger had a very scary experience. He may not understand what happened and unfortunately, he may think that you had something to do with the scary experience. I would recommend keeping him in a dim, quiet room for several hours. Once he seems more calm you can try feeding him a small amount of something he enjoys. If his behavior continues to be erratic I would recommend that you have him seen by veterinarian to ensure that he did not injure himself during the episode. Please be careful handling Jagger as even a very nice pet can bite or scratch when frightened.

When cats get spooked or frightened by something, it often takes them a few days to completely calm down again - so this is not unusual. The best thing to do is leave her alone and give her space. You can try using a Feliway pheromone diffuser and/or a daily calming supplement like Anxitane to help reduce her anxiety, if you want to.

Hello. The biggest problem is trying to identify or understand what set Daisy off. Perhaps an odor or sound, or she may have sensed another cat outdoors that frightened her. Since it can be difficult to know, the best thing to do is be proactive. I would immediately purchase a couple of Feliway room diffusers & put them in the room the incident occurred, & any other rooms Daisy frequents. Feliway emits a cat appeasing pheromone which can calm a nervous kitty. You can buy these online or at most pet retailers. Start with this along with a good physical exam by your veterinarian. It is possible that she could have an underlying condition like arthritis or even a urinary tract infection that caused her significant pain. Hopefully, this will never happen again. It could be that Fitzy became suddenly scared or stressed. I would recommend trying felioway to help This is a cat pheromone that can decrease stress. Increasing toys for the cat and increasing play time will also help decrease stress. Sometimes cats will get built up energy and increasing play really helps.

Each cat has their own personality, just like people. You cannot force him to change. If you have access to getting some Feliway diffusers you may want to try that.
