Is my cat safe after cleaning where unopened Miracle-Gro soil was?

Great job hanging up the plants so your cat can't get into them! Yes given that you have swept the floor, it's fine you let your cat walk around. You don't need to mop, especially since there wan't any dirt where you were :-)

The problem with potting soil of any kind is that cats love to dig in it. There can be harmful ingredients in the potting soil such a chemical fertilizers added to make the plant grow and insecticides to kill pests. Given this potting soil feeds plants for up to six months, I would assume that it contains chemical fertilizers that can potentially hurt your cat. To prevent her from having any chance of getting into this potting soil, I would hang your plants from the walls or ceiling. That would keep her from getting into them. As for toxic signs, it depends on the ingredients in the soil, but you could see neurological signs (difficulty walking, seizures, tremors), vomiting, anorexic, and extreme lethargy. I would hang your plants from the ceiling to keep your cat from getting into the soil at all. You can also create greenhouselike terrariums with lids to keep her out of the plants.

It sounds like you have taken the appropriate precautions and it should be just fine. Symptoms of cleaner ingestion may include: excessive drooling, vomiting, and/or a decrease in appetite. It was a great idea to steam clean the kitchen, and it should be good enough. If you are very concerned, you can scrub the floor again with a cleaner, and then steam mop one more time to make sure that the cleaner is completely removed.

Most household cleaning products are fine to use around your cat. There is no serious harm here if you are using products and then allowing them to airdry. The main concern is that some aerosolized cleaning products can cause irritation of your cats airway in some cases. However, most of these products will also cause you discomfort as well, so use your best judgement here. In most situations if you can handle exposure to the product, then so can your pet. As far as ingesting products go, you just have to make sure not to leave out any buckets of cleaner that your cat could potentially get into, and you are basically covered here as well. If you are still a bit worried about your pet, you can also switch all your household products to more organic cleaning products such as Green Works or the Mrs. Meyers products, which are derived from 98% natural products. Given that you have already washed them, it should be fine. Leaving them on the stairs to dry is fine as well since Mirz doesn't have access to the stairs. In addition, since you carried the shoes inside after you washed them, there isn't a worry about anything getting spread in the house. Just put them back on outside the next time you wear them. Miracle should be absolutely fine!! As long as the pod was intact when you handled them, there is minimal risk of poisoning your cat after handling them and then handling her.
