My cat was run over and is limping. Should I take her to the vet?

Based on the information you have provided, and the attached pictures, I am also very concerned that Sprinkles may have sustained significant trauma, causing her to be non-weightbearing lame on her left hind leg. Whether she was hit by a car or potentially fell and injured her leg, it sounds like she is in a significant amount of pain. She also looks like she has abraded skin (a wound) on that leg as well, which is at risk of becoming infected. I recommend having her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to have her injuries addressed. He/she will perform a full physical exam to localize her pain and determine if she has other, more life-threatening injuries such as damage to her chest or abdomen. X-rays may be indicated if a fracture is suspected. Ultimately, pain medication and antibiotics can be prescribed to help ease her pain and prevent infection. Importantly, NEVER give pain medication that is intended for humans to your pet, as these can be fatally toxic. I hope this is helpful!

I am sorry to hear about Luna. If Luna is limping there are many different possible causes, including soft tissue injury (such as a muscle sprain/strain, torn ligament), a fracture (it isn't always obvious when a pet breaks a bone if the fracture is not displaced), a torn or sore toenail, a skin infection of the toenails or bottom of the foot, nerve disorders, or in older pets tumors of the muscle or bone. I would recommend examination by a vet if the issue has been present since Sunday with no improvement. Unfortunately there are no safe pain medications available over the counter for cats, so I would just try to keep her quiet/restrict her activity/keep her indoors until she can be seen.

This could be as severe as a fracture or something more mild like a soft tissue injury. The fact that he is crying when the leg is manipulated indicates that he is quite painful requiring pain control medications at least. If he does have a fracture, he may actually require surgery. For this reason it is crucial that he is indeed evaluated by a veterinarian. You could consider taking him to your local humane society as often times they offer less expensive veterinary care. Oh no, poor Belis! It is certainly possible that her leg is broken, but it could also be sprained or infected from an animal bite if she's allowed outside. She has to see a vet for this, so I would bring her into one right away. Given that it's really swollen and she's been walking around with a limp limb for three to four days, medical attention is required now. Please bring her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.

You should take her to an out of hours vet or Pet ER today. Your vet;s office should have emergency information on their answering machine. In the UK all veterinarians have to provide an out of hours service, be it themselves or via referral to another veterinary clinic. This is obviously a painful condition which should be addressed today.

You should take your kitty to a vet as soon as possible after the accident for an exam as she could have internal bleeding, a ruptured bladder and also broken bones. The fact that she is hiding and only walking slowly is a sign that she is in pain and got injured in the accident. What we perceive as a gentle bump is quite a hard hit for a cat. Please take Witt to a veterinarian for an exam and possibly xeays. Limping is always a sign of pain. Pain can be caused by a sprain, foreign body lodged in the paw, fracture or other musculoskeletal trauma. This could also be caused by an abscess or inflammation etc. Please take your kitty to your vet today, so the vet can take the pain and initiate treatment.
