My cat has a rough growth on her paw nail, but moves fine. What to do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 20 days old | 4 lbs

I suddenly saw a problem in my cat's paw. But it doesn't hamper it's movement. Lucy can walk, run and jump without showing any symptoms of problem. The prblem is within one nail. It's like a rough thing on his paw and the size has increased. What can I do? I live in Bangladesh.

It’s difficult to see exactly what that is in the photo. I would try to pull it out if it’s moveable. You can also soak the paw in warm water with epsoms salt or an antibacterial solution. As long as she’s not lame I’m not overly concerned about it. Some cats get a callus on their pads, and some have an extra underdeveloped toenail, either of which could be her issue. If she becomes lame or this is painful then please take her in for an exam. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Lucy.
