My cat has ringworm. Is it safe to pet him without getting infected?

While ringworm is potentially contagious to people, the reality is that by the time your cat is diagnosed with ringworm, you have already been exposed to it for a long period of time and have not had any problems with it. People can be allergic to cats as well. If Curly is being treated for ring worm then you can get it. If her hair is growing back that doesn't mean she is cured. Hello. Are you treating Minocha for ringworm? Ringworm is a fungus that can spread on any loose hairs, but it is not an easy infection to catch from a cat unless you have a compromised immune system. I would definitely keep her out of bedrooms & not let her sleep with anyone. Continue to treat any spots with your antifungal medicine prescribed by your vet. I have never come across a topical medication that has been effective for treating ringworm in cats aside from prescription-based lime sulfur dips. The concern is that the Microsporum canis (fungal organism causing ringworm) is spread diffusely throughout a cat's entire hair coat, such that an isolated topical spray will not cover all surfaces of every hair, and lead to frequent recurrence. If you are concerned that she may have ringworm, she should go to her vet for confirmation and will need to be started on oral antifungal medication.
