My cat has a red, hairless, dry patch on her stomach. What is it?

It is very inflamed and appears infected. It may be scratches and bite marks from kittens try to nurse. It can be pain and her over grooming the area. I would have your vet look at it so they are prescribe medication to heal the skin

The pictures are a little difficult to see, but that red area on the skin is not normal. She may have created that herself from licking, but it could also be a skin infection. Either way, she likely needs medication. An appointment with your veterinarian would be a good idea. Sometimes fall brings a lot of environmental allergens. Rashes on the belly can be caused by a number of things ranging from allergies to environment or food, to bacterial or fungal infections on the skin. If the area is bothersome, placing a T-shirt or Elizabethan (cone) collar on your cat until he can be seen by the vet is best to prevent secondary infection from forming. You may also want to look into your cat's food for commonly allergenic ingredients such as corn, wheat and soy which could be causing the issue. If the issue isn't apparent, then having your vet take a look is best so that a treatment plan can be made.

I think this is likely due to some form of trauma such as from her scratching at it. I would keep a close eye on it. If it is just that, it should start improving and resolving in the next few days to a week if she is not scratching at it. If it has not improved significantly or resolved in the next week have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further work-up. At the same time, if it worsens in the meantime, have her evaluated sooner. Try to keep the area as clean as possible. Good luck!

This looks pretty bad, and unfortunately any OTC creams will just be licked off by Happy. Many human ointments contain multiple other ingredients which are not necessarily safe to be swallowed. You need to have her seen by a vet to have this treated.

I am not sure sure that is a rash necessarily. That sort of looks like blood beneath the skin, otherwise known as ecchymoses. If your cat is currently pretty stable, I don't think it absolutely needs to be this evening. However, if Scarlett could be actively bleeding elsewhere in the body there is the potential for an emergency visit being necessary. I would take a look at her gums and make sure they look pink and feel moist. Also make sure no blood seems to be appearing anywhere inside of the mouth. Hope this helps!

Even though a picture would help to understand better the underlying cause, This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or mites). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking.
