Why is my cat's red hip bump draining clear liquid?

You didn't include a picture so I cannot say for sure but the most common cause of leaking bumps on a cat would be an abscess, which is a pocket of bacteria, fluid, and inflammatory cells that is often caused by a wound (sometimes from a bite or scratch from another animal). I cannot rule out something like a cyst or a tumor that has grown too large and the skin has gotten stretched and broken open, or even a self inflicted injury from overgrooming, but the most likely answer is that this is an abscess. Pebbles should definitely be seen by her veterinarian, who will probably clean and flush the area and may recommend a culture of the area. They may also prescribe an antibiotic and maybe a pain medication, however in the meantime you can use warm compresses over the area to help it drain and to keep it clean if she allows you to. If you have an e-collar you can place that to prevent her from licking at the area and causing more bacteria (from her mouth) to enter the area. Good luck, I hope I could be helpful!

If your cat is otherwise acting normally and doesn't seem sensitive about this lesion I would recommend continuing to monitor for resolution. It would be best if you could prevent her from licking at the sore as much as possible. If the sore does not heal, develops a colored/pus discharge, or a smell I would recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian so that they can examine the sore and recommend other testing/treatments if needed. Most likely Charlotte has an abscess on her cheek which is a pocket of puss under the skin. This is most commonly due to a scratch from another cat. You can apply a hot compress to the area to bring in the blood supply to help heal the area. If there is a scab try to remove it so the infection can drain. once the puss is draining continue cleaning the area and try to massage it to remove all the puss. If it won't drain you will need to bring her to your veterinarian to have it cleaned, drained and to get antibiotics for Charlotte to treat the infection. This could be a small area of bacterial infection or a cyst if it has fluid in it other than pus. This could be associated with one of the many glands in the skin causing a sebaceous cyst. Other causes are a bite from a parasite (flea, tick, mite) or insect (spider/ant) among others. I would warm compress the area if Chubbs will let you to see if you can get it to come to a head and drain. You can also put Neosporin right on the area, it won't harm either if ingested. Continue to monitor the area. If it worsens, spreads, persists, have your vet check it out. They can get a first hand look and advise on how to proceed. That will depend on the underlying cause of the bump. Something like a swelling from an insect bite will go away. Other possible causes for a bump would include an abscess (pocket of infection) or a tumor (these can be benign and not cause any problems or malignant and require removal. If the bump is still present in a few days, a vet exam is recommended to determine the cause, or if it increases in size or starts to become painful.

Mammary growths in cats have a high chance of being a malignant cancer. Since they are open and draining, they may also be infected It would be best to have a vet check the area to see if surgery is an option to remove them or at least medication to help clean them and clear the infection.
