Why is my cat's voice raspy or hoarse after a bath? Is it serious?

Hello. Jax may have a mild upper respiratory infection. As long as he is eating & drinking well, has no significant discharge from the eyes or nose, he really does not need treatment or medications. Hello, sorry to hear about Watson. It sounds like he may have some irritation from the choking episode. If he has cleared up the foreign material then this irritation should resolve on its own with some time, however, if he has not cleared the foreign material from his throat or neck, then he may need to have this evaluated. If his voice continues to be raspy, then definitely have Watson evaluated by a veterinarian promptly to ensure he doesn't have any other abnormalities within his throat or trachea. Hello, sorry to hear about your cat. Some times cats may have a fainter voice, especially after waking up. A humidifier wouldn't t hurt if she does have a sore throat. You can also monitor her for any sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite. I hope this helps and best of luck.

Sometimes a raspy voice in a cat could be due to a respiratory infection. It’s sounds like Barney is getting better, so I would hold off on a vet for now. If the raspiness gets worse or he develops other signs such as lethargy, anorexia, coughing, or sneezing, then I would take him into the vet. I hope this helps!

He probably has an upper respiratory infection or cold. The sweater wasn’t too tight. It’s very cute! Many cats will cough, sneeze and have trouble breathing through their nose due to congestion. This is due to a virus so no antibiotics are needed. Usually with rest and time Cherry will recover without treatment. If she’s stops eating, or is very congested or lethargic then please take her in for an exam and treatment. Voice change can be caused by many things. Cats do not get colds like people do. Most cats are exposed to several upper respiratory viruses over their lifetime that can flare up occasionally causing sneezing, runny eyes or nose, and occasionally voice change. A change can also occur with anything going on with the larynx (voice box) including trauma, masses (benign or malignant), nerve or muscle disorders, etc. Additionally some cats who have asthma or heartworm disease may manifest this with a voice change. So, if your kitty is exhibiting any other symptoms and/or is not feeling well the best plan would be to have your family vet examine her. She should be ok from it and it won't cause her to have a really raspy voice. More than likely, she has a respiratory infection. I'd have her seen by a vet to have the raspy voice treated.
