My cat is losing weight quickly and muscle. Should I see a vet?

Weight loss is possible due to increased activity, but 9kg to 4kg is more drastic than I would expect. I would discuss doing bloodwork with your vet. Increased activity and weight loss is common in cats with hyperthyroidism. Weight loss can also be caused by kidney disease and diabetes. All 3 of these conditions can be diagnosed with simple bloodwork (CBC, chemistry, thyroid panel) and urinalysis.

There is a lot that we cannot tell from an examination on a pet, especially if it is something like sudden weight loss but the pet is otherwise acting normal. I would recommend having Kini's blood tested to evaluate overall systemic functions and see if there is an explanation for the weight loss. Check thyroid level as well. If all is normal on blood but the weight continues to fall, I would recommend x-rays and an abdominal ultrasound. I hope this helps! Certainly something like cancer is possible but there are some other conditions that are common in older cats like renal disease and hyperthyroidism that generally respond very nicely to treatment but this does depend on the severity. Rapid weight loss can be a sign of a medical illness, and it's certainly not normal for a cat to lose this much weight so quickly without any changes in diet. Weight loss can be a very general sign of illness, and it could be caused by dental disease, systemic illness, infection, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes inflammation, injury, or even cancer. It's certainly possible that this could be due to her picky eating habits, but I wouldn't necessarily expect her to lose a considerable amount of weight from that alone since I'm assuming that she's always been a bit picky. Other causes of weight loss can include inflammatory bowel disease, a heavy burden of parasites, cancer, kidney disease, or diabetes, although we often see other changes associated with many of these conditions. I do think it would be best to take Myla to her vet for an exam and some diagnostic testing (blood work and/or imaging - x-rays or ultrasound) to try to get to the bottom of this situation.
