Does my cat's Prednisolone syrup need to be refrigerated or not?

Hello. Foaming is not unusual when cats taste something they really do not like, but most likely most of the medication did go down. The problem is how much is Sweetie going to fight you at the next dose, & then the next one after that. I still prefer pills, as depending on the size, most are pretty tiny, or tablets can be formulated into tasty treats. I have also found that a lot of cats really love the taste of an product called Churu, by INABA. It is a lickable treat that makes it super simple to hide a small pill in it. For now, you can refrigerate the prednisolone you do have because making it cold often helps to disguise the nasty flavor some. Hope this all helps. I would try to pill Lio with the prednisone. When medications are ground up, it's hard to know if he actually ingested the entire dose, not to mention that prednisone can be pretty bitter. I also responded to your question about Lio's x-rays. Since your vet prescribed prednisone, my guess is that they're most concerned about asthma or other inflammatory issues within the lungs. Albuterol is a bronchodilator, which is used to dilate the airways, making it easier to breathe if constriction of the airways is present. I would assume that your vet prescribed this for your other cat's coughing spells (that's typically how I prescribe it), but definitely confirm with your vet in case they have another use in mind.

If you keep the tin in the fridge then spoilage is slowed, ie the important nutritional ingredients will not change and the full nutritional value of the food will be retained. You should, however take the food out of the fridge and let it warm up or put it into the microwave for a few seconds, to get it to room temperature to avoid gastro-intestinal problems in your kitty,

Hello, and thanks for your question. These are very similar medications, but prednisolone is best for cats, as they are better at digesting that than prednisone. Prednisone isn't harmful, but prednisolone is better in cats. Hope this helps!

I do not recommend giving any pets any human medications without specific instructions from your vet. Steroids have to be given carefully in order to obtain the correct therapeutic effect and they must be weaned off it when finishing a course. This is a discussion best handled by your veterinarian.

Unfortunately doxycycline suspension should be stored at room temperature and not be refrigerated. There is a chance that it has lost its effectiveness after being stored in the fridge, so I suggest you contact your vet tomorrow for a new prescription.
