My pet has a growing pink, hard, movable bubble on its skin. Is it serious?

I would recommend having this examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. The veterinarian can take a sample with a small needle and view the cells under the microscope for a better idea of what this is. It might be a benign or malignant tumor. Hello. This could just be a cyst or small tumor such as a histiocytoma. At this point, it does not look worrisome, so just monitor for any changes in size &/or shape. This is a mass. It will not fall off by itself, since it is attached to your pets skin and isn't something like a scab. It doesn't look particularly cancerous, but I would still recommend getting it tested by your vet and still consider getting it surgically removed, since it will likely continue to grow and can cause problems (i.e. source of irritation, source of infection) later on. This looks like a tumor. You need to make an appointment with your veterinarian to have this mass examined and preferably have a Fine Needle Aspirate done to send to a laboratory or have it removed right away if possible, in case it is a malignant growth. The FNA will help with diagnosing whether this is malignant or benign.

I recommend to take Greta to see her veterinarian. While most skin masses are benign, masses that a red/pink, hairless and raised are a concern for a malignant skin tumor called a Mast Cell tumor. It also appears as though this mass is ulcerated regardless and it needs to be removed. Once masses grow to the point of ulceration, they will heal and break open over and over again which can make them prone to infections not to mention oozing/bleeding. Just like with a human, the doctor will likely take a sample of the mass or remove the mass entirely and microscopically exam it. Thats the only way to know what it is accurately. In the mean time, protect the mass from trauma and wash it daily with an antibacterial hand soap (rinse it well). You can apply a small amount of coconut oil and rub it well into the skin. Poor guy. This does appear to be a very angry mass and I am a bit worried about the color. I would highly recommend getting this mass removed surgicallly by your vet and submitted for analysis. The color is suggestive that this can be a cancerous mass, so getting it removed is best for him moving forward. Even if it isn't cancerous, it is already showing signs that this mass will be hard to stabilize otherwise, so surgical removal may be the best option here I hope that your pet Benson gets some resolve to his angry skin mass soon! Hello, Thanks for the good photo. Due to the location, there's not a lot of extra skin in that region if it does get much larger and need surgical removal, which could make the procedure more difficult. If possible, I'd want to surgically remove it and biopsy it sooner rather than later. Since it's minimally invasive, I would feel fine about having the procedure done even if it is benign- even benign masses can become problematic with size and infections later.
