My cat's paws are swollen, purple, and crusted. What should I do?

However, this can be seen with a number of conditions even cancer being one of the possibilities. I recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check more specifically what may be wrong so that therapy can be recommended accordingly. Best of luck!

I'm so sorry to hear about poor Peaches. That paw does look quite swollen. It is important that she get assessed by a vet to check for fractures or dislocations, or localized infection in the foot if there was a penetrating wound (possible given the evidence of blood). If it is a soft tissue injury only, I would expect swelling to decrease over the course of 7-10 days, but a vet can prescribe pain medication to help improve her comfort and also help reduce the swelling more quickly. In the meantime, a warm compress on the area for 10 minutes twice a day may help to recirculate the swelling. I would also try to minimize her activity by not letting her jump or run in the house.

There is a good chance she could have an abscess. It needs to be opened and drained and then put on antibiotics for the infection. They can also give her some pain medications to help. If it is not an abscess then they may recommend doing an X-ray and make sure she didn’t break something. So I would have her looked at by tour vet. Hope she feels better soon

Poor Malie! It definitely looks swollen. Swelling like that can be caused from several things like a local infection/abscess, a soft tissue injury, bug bite and much more. You can try some benadryl twice a day (see link below) and restrict her activity (no running, jumping, or playing) to see if it improves. If it isn't improving or worsens, I would have your vet take a look at it. Your vet will be able to help determine the cause and get her started on the proper meds to help her feel better. Casplan's swollen and cracked paws are very concerning and he needs to be examined by the veterinarian today. Swollen paws can be related to a blockage in the lymphatic or venous systems, an autoimmune disease, something like a rubber bandage around the leg, low plasma protein or a significant blood pressure problem. All of these conditions need to be addressed quickly. The veterinarian will get a better idea of the cause after a physical exam. Best of luck.

The reason is that this may be a local infection site which can be painful and cause her discomfort. Another possibility is a traumatic injury which may need further care or even a tumor. I would recommend taking Breaker to a veterinarian especially if his foot has become so swollen. There could be some infection or just inflammation underneath the skin and he may need an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic even if you do not see a wound.
