My cat's paws are swollen, purple, and crusted. What should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 6 months old | 6 lbs

My cat has a serious problem with both two paws, ones toes has crusted over, while the other one is purple and swollen. They hurt him as well, every time I touch them he meows or hisses. Please help.

I’m so sorry Pebbles is so painful! The paw looks as though it has had some sort of trauma. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. She may need antibiotics, and definitely some cat safe pain medications. In the meantime placing her feet in a bowl of warm water and Epsom salts for 5-10 minutes may decrease some of the swelling and provide some comfort. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon.
