My cat has pale gums and URI symptoms. Does she need an emergency vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

My kitty is matching all symptoms of an upper respiratory infection and her gums seem to be super pale almost white. Should I take her to the emergency vet today or will she be okay to wait until Monday (tomorrow) as I’m living on a tight budget? We’re also supposed to be getting a foster kitten today...should we wait on that if Wilma is showing these symptoms? She also has this huge open sore on her lip. She was treated for acne a few weeks ago so I’m not sure if that’s it or something else

If her gums are almost white, she needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Respiration infections are highly contagious, so waiting on the foster would strongly be recommended. Doubly so since Wilma is not well and a new kitten could bring illness.
