Bullet is a very handsome guy! I'm sorry to hear that he's having this problem. There are a number of things that could cause an increased appetite along with mucus in the stool and pooping more than normal - some common possibilities would include a food allergy or intolerance to something in his diet, intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, or a systemic illness like hyperthyroidism or diabetes.

If this problem just started and he is acting normal otherwise, you could try feeding a bland diet of plain boiled chicken for the next few days to see if this helps his stool return to normal. If there is no improvement in the next 2-3 days, or if the problem has been doing on for several days now already, I would definitely recommend taking him to the vet for an exam. He/she can do a fecal exam and blood work to help diagnose the problem and see what needs to be done to treat it.

I'm sorry that Leo is having this problem. If Leo is having some mild constipation, it is common that we will see a small amount of mucous come out when he does pass stool. This is due to some irritation of the colon and is normal with mild constipation. However, the goal is to resolve the mild constipation so he does not continue to have this problem. There are a number of treatment options that you can try including a diet change or adding some additional fiber to his diet which may help him pass stool normally, so I would recommend talking to your veterinarian about those options.

If you did a quick switch from the old to the new food this could definitely cause diarrhea, especially if no other symptoms are present. You can try going back to the old food until the stools form again and doing a slow transition to the new diet over a week. If the diarrhea occurs again this is likely not a good food for Olaf. Some animals with diet related diarrhea may benefit from a probiotic. A few commonly used in pets are fortiflora and proviable. Certainly if the symptoms do not get better, get worse, or are accompanied by blood in the stool and/or a decreased appetite/vomiting/lethargy a visit to your veterinarian is recommended. Ollie needs to be examined by his veterinarian for a few conditions including hyperthyroidism, hypertension, intestinal parasites and Felv/FIV. It sounds like he is very sick and I recommend to have him examined within the next 24 hours. Getting the correct diagnosis and starting treatment quickly tend to give pets the best prognosis. Why is my cat's stool bloody with mucus, even with normal tests?

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The photo is very helpful- I can definitely see the blood and mucus in the stool. Certain liver and pancreatic conditions can cause this, as well as intestinal inflammation. Additional tests I recommend are pancreatic and liver function tests, bloodwork to determine nutrient absorption by the intestines, x-rays, and even an ultrasound. The most aggressive diagnostic would be an exploratory surgery with biopsies. You can talk to your vet also about changing your cat’s diet and adding probiotics. Why is my cat's loose stool bloody with increased thirst/appetite?

I suspect food allergy or IBD. I recommend you try the following: 1. Change the diet to Purina ProPlan Sensitive Skin and Stomach. I have had a lot of luck with clients using this diet and it has really helped. Change the diet slowly over a week's time to prevent further GI upset. Get a fecal sample and send it away for analysis (worms, protozoa, bacteria, etc.) 2. Abdominal ultrasound 3. Trial with hypoallergenic diet 4. Checking B12 levels 4. GI endoscope and samples Often chronic GI issues in cats can be hard to diagnose the exact cause, as it is often a combination of factors, however start at the top of the list and go down, and see if you can get an answer. Is my 6-week-old kitten's runny poop normal after eating adult food?

This could be due to the diet and it could also be due to intestinal parasites. I would recommend switching food to a kitten food and see if that helps. If it does not improve and continues to progress, I would recommend having a veterinarian test her poop sample to check for intestinal parasites. I hope this helps!
