My cat won't eat, is wobbly, and falling over. Is it an emergency?

Your kitty needs to be seen by a vet. These are concerning symptoms in an older cat. They can become dehydrated very easily. Not eating can be caused by numerous things including things with the gi tract itself and diseases of any other organ system (kidneys, liver, etc). Your vet can perform an exam and then likely will recommend starting with bloodwork +/- xrays. This is the best plan to figure out what is going on and to get your kitty feeling better. Y=This is an emergency, especially since your cat is not eating voluntarily. Try to find a veterinarian to see her today. She will need a thorough neurological exam and likely needs iv fluids, possibly anti-nausea medication. It is very good that you are syringe feeding her. If you cannot find a vet today, make sure she eats and drinks so she does not dehydrate and take her to a vet tomorrow morning.

I agree, it could be eating the pigeon. It is a medical emergency when a cat won't eat, as if they go long enough without eating (about 72 hours), they will develop a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment. If there was a way to treat this at home, I would tell you, but there is not. She has to see a vet now.

Poor Tosio! I'm sorry to hear that she's sick. If she isn't fully vaccinated, I would be concerned that she might have an illness called feline panleukopenia, which is a very serious infectious disease of kittens that causes lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, and often death if not treated promptly. It's also possible that she may have gotten into something toxic, or contracted some other type of infection. Since she sounds quite sick, I would recommend taking her to an emergency clinic this evening to be seen. If you're not sure where to go, try calling your regular vet's office - their voicemail message should have contact information for your nearest ER or an on-call doctor for emergencies.

I'm really concerned about Des wobbling like she is drunk, as that can be a sign of something serious like getting into something toxic. I don't she can wait until next week to see a vet, I think she should see one now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

Hi. It sounds like she is very sick. With these signs, she needs to go to the ER right away. It sounds as if she has a neurologic condition that is progressing. They will do an exam, labwotk and imaging and that will help.guide us to the possible diagnosis. Good.luck
