My cat won't eat much for 3 days and vomited. When to call vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years old | 9 lbs

Sepia does not eat as usual, she tries to eat but eats only very small amounts of food for 3 days now. She is cross with ragdoll and long haired, sometimes when she was full of hair she ates less but never happend for so long. She vomited once when she ate more 2 days ago but no hair only food. I know that not eating is very dangerous gor cats... should I call for doctor immediately?

If Sepia seems really depressed and lethargic, or if she starts vomiting multiple times in one day, then she needs to see an emergency vet right away as this may be serious. Otherwise, if she continues to not want to eat much then she needs to be seen when you can get an appointment, and I would recommend full blood work and an abdominal xray or ultrasound. She could have kidney disease or some other kind of metabolic issue going on like hyperthyroidism or pancreatitis. She is a young kitty so hopefully it's nothing serious! I hope that helps and best of luck!
