My cat isn't eating much for 2 days. Is it time to see a vet?

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you keep your appointment to have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. I do agree that an abdominal ultrasound is the next best step. Treatment would be based on findings. Chutu should be examined by the veterinarian today. Any pet that is not eating beyond 24 hours should be examined and treated by the veterinarian. Just like humans, pets can get sick for many reasons and some of these reasons are very serious and can become fatal without treatment. Because pets can't talk, it's very important to have them examined since this is the only way to begin knowing what's wrong. Best of luck.

If Sepia seems really depressed and lethargic, or if she starts vomiting multiple times in one day, then she needs to see an emergency vet right away as this may be serious. Otherwise, if she continues to not want to eat much then she needs to be seen when you can get an appointment, and I would recommend full blood work and an abdominal xray or ultrasound. She could have kidney disease or some other kind of metabolic issue going on like hyperthyroidism or pancreatitis. She is a young kitty so hopefully it's nothing serious! If this has been going on for more than a few days it might be better to see an emergency veterinarian today, however if the symptoms are more recent you may be able to wait. If Greta's gums seem pale or she is having trouble breathing, or if she has a history of other medical problems it would also be better to have her seen today. Otherwise I think you can probably wait until tomorrow. Ultimately these symptoms are somewhat vague and can be a sign of a number of problems so you should go with your gut.

Since Julie ate twice today you can wait until tomorrow to see if her eating is back to normal. In the meantime make sure she's drinking, take note of her urination and poop in case there are changes so you can relate that information to your veterinarian if you need to take her in. I would pet her all over to see if she is painful, watch her walking to check for lameness and please check her gums to see if they are pink and moist. Some animals if they don't exercise sometimes eat less on lazy days. You are very observant through so if she's not her normal self tomorrow it's fine to bring her in for an exam. They will check her temperature and give her a thorough physical. If there are any problems they may recommend a blood panel, urinalysis and fecal test if they have not been done recently. Cats often hide when they are sick so catching a medical problem before it becomes serious is always a good idea. I'm so sorry to hear that Beow isn't feeling well. It is very concerning when a cat doesn't eat for more than 24 hours. I would recommend having Beow examined by a veterinarian right away. They may be able to tell you what is going on based on an examination, but more likely may need to do some blood work. Unfortunately, cats tend to become sicker the longer they do not eat and do not tend to improve without treatment, so I would recommend having him treated as soon as possible. Good luck!
