My cat stopped eating, losing weight, and acting sick. What's wrong?

I recommend taking Ebony in for a veterinary exam. if he is loosing weight and continuing to vomit then something more than parasites is likely the cause. Anything from toxin ingestion, pancreatitis, lymphoma, inflammatory bowel disease or a GI blockage could cause the signs you describe. After a good physcial exam the vet may recommend diagnostic testing to see what is causing Ebony's illness. I hope Ebony is better soon.

I believe these very general symptoms are very worrying, i cannot tell you what is the cause as there are many options but i strongly advise that you take him to the vet urgently to have a blood test done and get this checked.

I am very sorry to hear about Evie! There are many different conditions which can cause these symptoms in cats. Some of these would include diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, infections, intestinal cancer or other cancers, and more. Without doing an examination and getting more detailed history, we cannot give a more precise answer. I would highly recommend getting Evie to the vet as soon as possible. They can examine her and will likely recommend some testing such as bloodwork to try to determine what is causing her illness and if it can be treated. Best of luck to you and Evie.

I definitely think you should have Dahlia examined by your veterinarian. A few diseases that could cause an increased appetite with weight loss include intestinal parasites, diabetes, and hyperthyroidism. Your vet can examine Dahlia and her stool, and may recommend checking lab work if parasites seem unlikely. All of these diseases are very treatable, but it's important to get a diagnosis quickly.

Poor Mickey! It definitely sounds like he is feeling terrible. Just like people, there are many conditions that can make pets feel sick. This could range from parasites to cancer. Also like us, diseases are best addressed early and this may result in a better prognosis. I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian today. The doctor will need to learn the underlying cause in order to give appropriate treatment. Bring in a stool sample in case the doctor needs to test it. The doctor will likely want to check the thyroid, kidney and blood sugar levels to looks for evidence of renal disease, hyperthyroidism or diabetes since these three conditions will all cause weight loss. Significant weight loss is always a concern, especially if his appetite is good. Hormonal conditions such as diabetes and thyroid disease or poor absorption and digestion of his food is possible and I would recommend a full physical and blood panel as soon as possible in order to stabilise his condition before he becomes too frail

Poor Sachi! Significant weight loss and inappetence are certainly a major concern. I'm glad to hear that his blood work (I assume a CBC, chemistry and T4?) was unremarkable. However, foreign body intestinal obstruction/blockages, intestinal malabsorption issues that can cause inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), chronic pancreatitis, or cancerous processes, do not necessarily cause changes on screening blood tests. If Sachi has not yet had abdominal x-rays or an ultrasound, consider talking to your vet about these tests as his next diagnostic step. If he has a foreign body obstructing his intestines, this is a surgical emergency, and these tests would be helpful in obtaining a diagnosis. If pancreatitis, IBD or EPI are more highly suspected, consider talking to your vet about testing for vitamins B12 and folate, as well as TLI and fPLI. I hope this helps!
