My cat isn't affectionate and only wants food. Is this normal?

Some cats are simply aloof and prefer to be alone with less physical contact and others prefer to be in the center of any action. I'm not sure that I entirely understand your question, so feel free to ask another question if this answer does not address your concerns.

Yes, it is normal that Ollie Houdini is very affectionate. Some cats are more affectionate than others; in fact, I had one cat who liked to spend most of his time flat on his back on my lap with me scratching his stomach. I would enjoy the extra love and attention :-)

Most cats only need to eat around 3/4-1 cup of food daily (1 cup= 1 can). So if you are feeding him more than this, you are likely putting too much in the bowl. What you are describing does not sound normal. Certainly adult cats will eat a little less than kittens if they are less active, but it sounds like Mischa's appetite has decreased pretty dramatically. You can certainly try changing brands or flavors of food in case there is something she does not like about her food. I also do not recommend mixing the canned and dry food because if they do not eat it all at once, moistening the dry food can cause bacterial growth. So, if you feed both types of food, just put them in seperate bowls. If you try a different food and Mischa still does not eat well, I would recommend having your vet examine her and possibily run some bloodwork to makes sure that everything is normal. Good luck!
