My cat has fight wounds & scratches. Can he be neutered now?

It's so great that you are looking after these cats. A better option for Spinx might be an injection called Convenia which last 19-14 days so they don't have to keep getting oral medications. It also tends to be very effective against abscesses. It does have to be given by a veterinarian but at that time you could discuss having him neutered to potentially decrease the fighting. Also with how this one looks it may need to be cleaned out by veterinarian order to heal. Because he may not be easy to handle sedation maybe effective for him at the time of that appointment. Alternatively there are some that in areas that you have calls which you can look into.

He needs to be seen by a vet. It sounds like he needs some antibiotics to clear up the pus/wounds. It also sounds like he may have fleas or mange if he is losing his hair. Finally, if he has not been vaccinated he could catch disease like feline AIDS or feline leukemia. He may not be showing any symptoms now but those diseases can show up later. Both of those are transmitted by bite wounds from other cats. If he is fighting with other cats he may contact these diseases. I suggest you get him to a vet for an exam, deworming, vaccinations, antibiotics and something to treat the hairloss depending on what the underlying cause is. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Unfortunately your picture of Spec's wound is a little blurry, but it looks bigger than a simple scratch to me. It also looks quite red, and it appears that there may be some discharge coming from it. If this wound is on his surgical incision, I would be concerned especially if he was bitten. Cat bites typically become infected and abscess. Gently clean the area with warm water and antiseptic soap, and I would have this wound examined and treated by a vet today. Best of luck!

Intact male cats can and do fight over things such as territory and females, so to answer your question, yes they can hurt each other if they get into a fight. Intact cats will also spray urine all over the house to mark their territory, which smells terrible and is very hard to get out. I would recommend having them both neutered to reduce any aggressive behavior as well as urine marking, which it sounds like you are seeing if they are fighting enough to cause a cut. Gently wash the cut with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the area clean and dry, and monitor for signs of infection which include redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, and pus. Should you see any of those signs, the cat will need to see the vet for antibiotics. In the meantime, I'd make an appointment to have them both neutered. Good luck, I hope this helps!

A check up would be needed to remove the stitch (which may be an internal one) and allow adequate healing. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/chewing. Oh dear! I hate to disagree with your vet, but there's no evidence whatsoever that breeding is good for a cat's health. In fact, it opens them up to a much higher risk of disease and injury - so I would recommend having him neutered now, rather than waiting. If your current vet doesn't want to do the procedure, I would suggest checking with another vet in your area to see if you can find someone who will go ahead and neuter him. At 5 months old, he's plenty old enough to go ahead and have the surgery.

That is unusual behavior so he may be irritable from being in pain. Outdoor unneutered male cats often fight and he may have an injury you can’t see which is painful. I recommend confining him to another room until he calms down so no one else gets injured, and see if he is eating normally. If this behavior continues please take him in for an exam to check for a wound or area of pain. In addition I would consider neutering him also.
