My cat's nail quick is exposed. Should I rush her to the vet?

It looks like your cat’s toenail has been sheared off, probably from an injury, fight or being hit by a car. My best recommendation is to take your car to the vet where they will be able to fully clean the area around the nail, trim the nails if necessary, and give your cat an antibiotic and pain medication if needed. Hi there. It looks like Mae ripped off her nail while she was out and about. There isn't much to do for that other than let the nail grow back. If she'll tolerate it, you can try soaking her feet in warm water with some epsom salts sprinkled in, this can be very soothing. Thank you for contacting PetCoach with your question about Anouk. Poor girl! Try soaking it in an Epsom salt bath, but if she won't let you, don't force it. Keep it clean and dry, and you may want to bandage it to keep dirt and litter from getting in it and getting it infected. Keep her indoors for now if she is allowed outside to protect her paw. Should you put a bandage on it, put an Ecollar on her to keep her from licking at the bandage. I will put a link below on how to make one at home, or you can buy one at a pet store. The nail will eventually regrow with time. At this stage it is essential to remove/cut the nail (a picture of it would be essential to give you more specific advices about how to to do it) and keep the area underneath (nail bed) disinfected (you can use an hibiscrub solution).

I would recommend taking her in to the vet to have this cut back so that the nail does not snag on anything and tear. She may need an antibiotic as well as a pain medication. Angel will be ok and it does not appear that there are any other concerning changes where the broken nail is. This should be quite simple for the veterinarian to address. Hello. If Rosie is at all uncomfortable on the foot, constantly licking the toe, or unwilling to walk on the leg, she probably should see her veterinarian tomorrow. The toe needs to be protected, possibly with an antibiotic soaked wrap until the quick dies a bit. It will take a couple of weeks for a new nail to grow out, but if the sensitive quick can be protected, she will be much more comfortable.
