My cat has muscle spasms months after a fever. What's wrong?

The spasms could be seizures. Have her physically examined by your veterinarian or a veterinary neurologist to diagnose the underlying cause. In the meantime, the vet may dispense medication to control or prevent the spasms/seizures. Keep her as stress free as possible, since stress may be a trigger for the condition.

It's quite hard to appreciate exactly what you mean without seeing these tremors. However, it is very promising that he was otherwise well during the day. It may simply be movement of the muscles during sleep which often happens. Alternatively he may have strained a muscle and it could be in spasm. Then it is best to take him to your vet in the morning or within 24-48 hrs if the seizure dissipates on its own. Typically seizures are not life-threatening unless they continuously occur and don't go away within 15-30 minutes and it is always best to get your pet checked and bloodwork ran to look for underlying causes. If the seizures occur for more than 2-3 minutes or happen more than once a month then it is warranted to get Casper started on anti-seizure medication. Another possible cause of the muscle spasms is a toxin exposure, which would require immediate medical attention and would results in spasms that are continuous and don't resolve.

Muscle spasms can be normal, sometimes humans have muscles twitching out of nowhere and it's not a serious problem. It's good that Faelynn isn't having any diarrhea and vomiting, and the lethargy could be due to the transition to a new home. That can be stressful for a cat. I'm wondering if she is eating and drinking. If she is eating and drinking, I wouldn't get too worried yet and rush her into a vet. Keep an eye on her, and if she stops eating or drinking, starts vomiting or having diarrhea, or continues to be lethargic over the next 48 hours, then I would take her into the vet. Hi there. Due to the nature of your pet's illness and conccurrent illnesses-it sounds as if he may have a few things going on. If he was still suffering from residual effects from the ivermectin poisoning, it is likely the Bartonella is even harder on his small body. Depending on the age of your animal and the level of tissue damage from the illnesses (both of which we are unsure of here) it's is impossible to predict his likelihood of recovery or how long the seizures will last. Normally, I will tell you that seizures in this particular case is a relatively poor prognostic indicator. Any animal that had undergone so many issues in a short time should be hospitalized and on iv fluids if at all possible for treatment. My best to you both.
