What is this weird lump on my cat's back? Should I see a vet?

Hello. It is very unlikely that this is cancerous, but what it actually requires is a hands-on examination. My first inclination is the presence of a single fly larva under each swelling. Warble flystrike is a common problem in young cats during the summer. This may also just be what you described, some type of benign cyst, but It is unusual enough that I really recommend letting your vet take a look at this. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I understand your concern! It is hard to tell exactly what a skin mass is by just looking at it. You need either to biopsy or aspirate it for a definitive diagnosis. With that being said the bump on Kajoor appears to resemble a sebaceous adenoma. Which is more common in dogs. I would consider removing to for biopsy. If it is <8mm and Kajoor is a calm cat your Vet could consider removing it with a local block of lidcaine and a punch biopsy device. I recommend you have Raja evaluated by your veterinarian for a test called fine needle aspirate which is an easy, quick and pain-free procedure which in the majority of cases will help reach a diagnosis to identify what the best course of action is based on the findings. In some cases, a biopsy is needed for a diagnosis. If it truly is benign then removal is not necessarily recommended. I recommend that you have Jeri evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If an abscess was noted, further local therapy with drainage and antibiotics would be recommended. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. From the picture it looks as though it Mau be a cyst that ruptured and dried on the fur. I would have this examined by a veterinarian to ensure there is no infection and to help give you a better answer after physically examining ming to give you the appropriate treatment recommendations. It's hard to tell the size but it looks like it may be a benign wart or growth. It appears to be more on the surface of the skin which is good, and it is well defined. Cats do get malignant skin growths so it is a good idea to have your veterinarian examine it and feel underneath also. They can easily remove this if necessary and do a biopsy.
