My cat has a new lump on her foot; could it be from a mouse bite?

Hello. I would have this looked at by your vet tomorrow. The most common thing we see in cats are bite abscesses & it is really amazing how hard it is to sometimes find a bite wound. A cat's bite can leave a tiny needle like puncture & an abscess can begin to develop within hours. It can be very painful & make Buddy feel sick. Your vet can quickly determine if this is the cause of his lump, lance & treat it & Buddy will be feeling better very soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Thanks for reaching out about Yuki and including photos. Lumps such as this can be abscesses or tumors. Each requires a veterinary visit to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Unfortunately there is little that can be done from home. Monitor her for appetite and activity. Sometimes, local rescue groups with assist with veterinary but you would have to contact them. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is hard to be 100% from the picture but it looks like she is missing a toe or has had some previous trauma to that paw. If she is eating and isn't limping then it could be normal for her. If your neighbor is planning on adopting her and caring for her long term she will need a Vet visit to be dewormed, vaccinated and spayed. The Vet can check out the paw. I wish you the best!

It could be an area swollen from her hitting her chin on something or it could be an infection / pimple (acne). That looks like either an abscess or a ruptured tumor. I recommend to have it examined and treated by the veterinarian. The kitty may need antibiotics and a special foot soak. The area also needs to be protected from any licking by having the cat wear an elizabethan collar at all times. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. It appears to be a mass- which could be completely benign (like a wart) or could be something of concern. I would recommend asking your vet to do either an aspiration or an impression smear to see if some cells can be sampled. This would allow you to know what kind of mass Moe has and whether they should pursue further treatment for it. I hope this helps!
