My cat keeps licking her leg, causing a reoccurring open wound?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My cat has the callous on her back leg she licks it and eventually it turns in to an open hole so I clean it and wrap it and get it healed and closed but it has been reacurring for about a year now? Do you have any idea what it could be

There could be a foreign body lodged in the wound and the pus is the body's way to try to get rid of it. This should be see by a vet and probably needs to be cleaned out surgically, ie all the necrotic tissue needs to be removed and with it hopefully the foreign body. Then it can heal properly and should not reoccur.
