My cat licked a grape and seems lethargic. Should I go to the vet?

If this has been going on for more than a few days it might be better to see an emergency veterinarian today, however if the symptoms are more recent you may be able to wait. If Greta's gums seem pale or she is having trouble breathing, or if she has a history of other medical problems it would also be better to have her seen today. Otherwise I think you can probably wait until tomorrow. Ultimately these symptoms are somewhat vague and can be a sign of a number of problems so you should go with your gut.

If she is still eating and drinking then you could probably wait until tomorrow to get her in to see your regular vet. However, if she will not eat or drink, is not urinating or starts vomiting, you will need to take her in right away. I would not recommend waiting until Friday to have her seen.

Swallowing frequently is something we see with cats that have upper respiratory infections, or complications within the throat like polyps or ulcers. Given that she is eating and drinking as normal, I would monitor her for now. If she is still lethargic in another 24-48 hours, I would have her seen by a vet. Should she stop eating or drink, or develops other signs such as vomiting and diarrhea, I would have her seen by a vet right away.

I strongly recommend getting your cat seen by your vet right away. Lethargy is a worrying sign after such an incident and she must continue to eat or she can develop liver disease in a matter of days. At this point, it would be best to take Lily to her vet fairly urgently for evaluation. Your vet will need to examine her and will likely recommend some diagnostic testing, which may include blood work, an ultrasound or x-rays, to get to the bottom of this issue.
