My cat is still lethargic and walking strangely after vet care?

I recommend that you have Kitty reevaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment since things have not improved. Likely diagnostics include radiographs. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least they can prescribe pain control medications to make kitty feel better. In the meantime, reduce his activity as much as possible as that in itself can make a big difference. Good luck and have a good day!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. I would agree with the veterinarian that the blood work does not look concerning at this time. If his appetite has decreased with antibiotics, I would recommend discontinuing the antibiotics and seeing how his appetite improves. If he continues to be inappetant or is lethargic, I would have the veterinarian recheck him to ensure everything is ok. If he continues to be itchy, I would recommend using a topical shampoo such as Douxo PS shampoo which can be found online quite easily and bathe twice weekly until resolved. I would also recommend using Essential 6 spot on by Dermoscent, which can also be found online. If he continues to be itchy, it may be time to consider switching to a different food or even consider seeing a veterinary dermatologist. I hope this helps! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I’m so sorry to hear about Quavo. I would say if he is not improving, it’s time for more testing. Bloodwork and/or X-rays may give us a better idea of what’s going on. X-rays look for things like large heart, severe arthritis, and (heaven forbid) obvious cancer. Bloodwork will indicate kidney and liver function, diabetes, and infection in some cases. I do also agree with treating for pain. Many times pain looks exactly like what you describe so definitely give the pain medication as directed. An arthritis “flare up” can cause pretty debilitating pain and is high on my list if Quavo is 10 or more. Best wishes to you and Quavo!

Lethargy can be a sign of many different diseases. I am not sure of his age but he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He could have an infection, musculoskeletal issue, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, thyroid issue, etc. Your vet can run some lab-work and take x-rays, if needed, to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. He may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, or other medications, depending on the cause. Hope he feels better soon!

Thanks for the question. It sounds like Gregory has finished 2 days of the medication that was prescribed by your veterinarian. I would recommend finishing the prescribed medication, and then going back in for a recheck if he isn't improving. At any time if Gregory is getting worse, then don't wait to finish the medication. Often, without more testing (lab tests and x-rays) we don't know exactly what we are treating for. If Gregory is not improving, your veterinarian may recommend more testing to try and find a cause for his symptoms. I'm glad he is doing a little better so far, and I hope his appetite improves.

You just took him back from the vet and he has been urinating so far. clavamox is an antibiotic that often affects the appetite, the pain killers can do that as well. unless you have reasons to believe he is blocked again i would recommend to wait until tomorrow, if he is not eating by then you should take him back to the vet. don't forget that this condition is often caused due to stress and your main aim is to reduce his stress at the moment, taking him home and back to the vet may add more stress on him and can worsen his condition. stay in touch with your vet on the phone if you are in any doubts.

No, it is definitely not because of Clavamox. i cannot think of any link between pancreatitis and neurological symptoms, so there may be two separate problems going on at the same time. If Casper is still not back to normal and is showing neurological symptoms, you should take him to your vets today. If he fully recovered you should monitor him at home. However, if he has another episode like this, please record a video of his behaviour on your phone and play it back to your vet. That will greatly help to understand what is going on with your cat.
