My new cat is lethargic, eyes barely open, and threw up. Is she sick?

I just got my cat from a shelter a week ago and she’s playful but recently she hasn’t been moving from this one spot and won’t open her eyes as much. She’s 3 years old and she threw up a few days ago out of no where. We don’t rwally know what’s wrong with her. She seems fine for a while then she’ll stick to one place and not respond to anything we do to her.

This could be a sign that she's sick. Lethargy is a very general sign of illness, and it could be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. I'd take her into the vet in the morning to get checked out. Best of luck.

I would be worried as well. Lethargy can be a sign of illness such as systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. I'd keep an eye on Princess this weekend, and take her into the vet on Monday if she is still acting this way. Best of luck.

I believe you are going to have to provide us with some more information about your kitty for us to help determine if she has a problem. We cannot diagnose a health condition from a photo alone. In this photo I see a cat who could either be sleeping or who could be very lethargic. Sleeping would not be concerning but if she is so lethargic she is laying like this, then a veterinary exam is needed. We may be able to provide more information if you give us an idea of her behavior/symptoms she is having.

I strongly recommend getting your cat seen by your vet right away. Lethargy is a worrying sign after such an incident and she must continue to eat or she can develop liver disease in a matter of days. There may be more hair that cannot get back out or that may be causing an intestinal blockage. If this is the case, without treatment it can be life-threatening. Your vet will do an exam, x-rays, possibly lab work, and base don these results will be better able to tell you what is wrong and how best to treat it.

Dilated pupils can be due to pain, nausea, anxiety, ingestion of toxic substances or neurological conditions. If she is eating and drinking and showing no other signs such as twitching or confusion you could provide plenty of fluids and bland food for 24 hours and monitor for any other signs. It sounds as Lexy is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet urgently, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.
