Why is my cat not eating, playing, and lethargic after our trip?

I'm so sorry to hear that Beow isn't feeling well. It is very concerning when a cat doesn't eat for more than 24 hours. I would recommend having Beow examined by a veterinarian right away. They may be able to tell you what is going on based on an examination, but more likely may need to do some blood work. Unfortunately, cats tend to become sicker the longer they do not eat and do not tend to improve without treatment, so I would recommend having him treated as soon as possible. Good luck! Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! 56 hours is a long time to go without eating. Now that it is approaching 3 days with little to no food, I would concerned there is something medically wrong that is causing Magin's inappetence. Sometimes stress (coming home from the trip in this case) can be a cause but I would expect that to last for a day or two but not longer than that. I would recommend taking Magin into see his veterinarian for an evaluation and exam so you can find out what is going on. I hope this helps!

Some cats are lethargic and less playful when they have fever (I guess that was checked by your vet) or painful condition, for example muscle pain, joint pain, spinal pain and more. If his activity is not back to normal in 2-3 days I would suggest trying a short course of anti-inflammatory medications.

Keep in mind that he may be more vocal just because of your arrival and eating more dry food and not wanting tuna may be just behavioral and not necessarily a bad thing. However, if you notice other signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy and/or inappetence, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Best of luck!

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. If he does, even if you can't find one right now I would be concerned that he suffered a bite of some kind, as cats can develop abscesses fairly easily when they suffer a trauma. I would be concerned by his behavior, as it does sound like there may be an underlying issue going on, such as an infection, GI upset, or an underlying medical issue (such as kidney disease or diabetes). If he doesn't perk up, start eating and getting some energy back, I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his change in behavior, have any necessary testing done (xrays, bloodwork) and start any treatment he may need to resolve it. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sasha! I don't like when cats go more than 2 days with out eating. If she is extremely lethargic then I would take her today, otherwise tomorrow at your Vet at the latest. She could have a fever from an upper respiratory tract infection, leukemia, feline infectious peritonitis or other viral infection. I wish you and Sasha the best!
