My cat is lethargic after vet for fight injuries. Should I go back?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If he had a fight with another cat he could have suffered an injury that does not appear apparent at this time. However, it would be best to have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to examine him to see if he appears to be painful for example which could be a reason to become lethargic and less interactive. He could also be somewhat traumatized by that encounter which he could potentially eventually get over. However, I still think that he should be evaluated. Good luck and have a good night! Poor baby. It sounds to me like he needs additional medical attention. His pain control may not be adequate for his injuries, or he could be developing an infection. I would recommend taking him to an emergency vet clinic tonight to be assessed and his treatment adjusted.

Poor guy. If he is limping then I would be concerned about an internal fracture or even infection. I would take him to the hospital right away because if an infection is present you want that treated right away. An infection is possible because of Raymond's symptom of lethargy. Also you want to get him some immediate pain relief if possible.

Poor Uncle Fester. Thanks for more information on it. If you are really worried about it, and I understand why you are, there's no harm in taking him into an ER vet. He may need intensive care. I recommend doing that now.

Hello, and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Until your nearest veterinarian opens, I recommend keeping Psycho as relaxed and quiet as possible. He's likely had a traumatic several weeks! Put him in a dark quiet room with his food, water, and litterbox, and minimize his stress. However, he should be seen by the vet as soon as possible - I'm concerned he may be fighting an abscess (infection) and may require antibiotics to get better. Hope this helps!

Cats can sleep a lot when they are not feeling well. I'd keep an eye on Batman for now. If he's still this lethargic in the morning, isn't eating or drinking, or is vomiting, take him back into the vet right away. Best of luck.

He may have not escaped uninjured. It is possible he was bitten and is developing and infection or abscess. Cat bites can be difficult to spot. Ideally, he should be physically examined by your veterinarian. He may need antibiotics and pain medications.
